Just around the corner from the WUP headquarters, is a tiny spot that slipped under the radar, meaning we could just turn up, sit at the bar and enjoy Kim Kwang-Loc’s raviolis and Korean steak tartare. It’s still one of our favourite spots, even if the press has got wind of it, meaning if you have to book if you don’t want to be turned away.

The Korean team is friendly, the food is excellent, and yes, Mandoobar has good Instagram potential, not that we would condone having your phone out while you’re meant to be getting some quality time in. Grab a seat at the bar.

The beef tartare – beef marinated in soya sauce with sesame seeds and tangy Cambodian or Madagascan pepper. The meat is fresh and of good quality despite the teeny price tag of 9€. The grilled tuna tartare at 10€, and raviolis are also worth checking out, our favourite being the beef and pork ‘Gogui’ at 8 to 10€.

At a glance:

+ Excellent food, quality produce, stellar service. Great prices.

– You must book ahead.

Mandoobar – 7 rue d’Edimbourg, 75008 Paris (don’t be put off by its 8th arrondissement post code, it’s tucked away in a quiet street close to Liège).
